(MP3 files):

Mack Clarke's review
of the March 13, 2004 show

Formed in 2001, Johnny Echo and the Reverbs have put together a musical program representing the most substantial rock hits of the bygone decades. The song list ranges from 50’s tunes like “Runaway”, “Last Kiss”  to 60’s soulful material such as “Mustang Sally” and “I Feel Good” to 70’s favorites “Satisfaction” and "Cocaine". The band delivers these crowd pleasers with great musical integrity and pizzazz, occasionally breaking out into unexpected jam territory.

There really is no one by the name of “Johnny Echo”, but singer Phil Martin is the group’s front man, his voice trained by countless performances. Lead Guitarist Mark Mahoney has tons of experience playing all kinds of music, including electronic ambient music and most of all: the Blues. Guitarist Roger Hausmann is a certified keyboard and guitar nut -although he's not an official Fender endorser, he should be. Bassman Dave Sieg provides a chest thumping bottom-end together with drummer Jeff Dean, who owns not one, but two drum kits, besides being a master on all kinds of percussion instruments.

Johnny Echo & The Reverbs appeal to music enthusiasts and that ability is probably their greatest strength. What makes them special is their skill to make this music come across with an honest and highly musical attitude. Johnny Echo & The Reverbs stand for fun good dance tunes that are always respectful of their roots.
